Local veteran musician Bernie Moffatt passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Hamilton’s General Hospital from heart-related issues. Bernie was a regular at the Hamilton Guitar Association and the Hamilton Folk Club. As well, the singer/guitarist attended a number of jams in the Golden Horseshoe area.Not only was Bernie a first-class musician but he also worked as an actor for a number of years. This included bit parts in movies and being a stand-in for legendary comedian George Carlin on a few projects.
To his friends, he will always be known as a very friendly, funny guy with tons of interesting stories. He’ll be greatly missed.

I had the honour of getting to know Bernie in recent months and was proud to call him a friend. He had many interesting jokes, stories and songs to share. My main regret is that I didn’t get a chance to get to know him better – the guy was quite a character. I’ll miss you Bernie. My condolences to his family and friends.
