New James Anthony Band CD: Live in the Barrel

The James Anthony Band has always had killer live performances.  Now thanks to their latest CD, Live in the Barrel, amazing highlights from those shows are now available.

James struts his stuff on some of his coolest songs such as Hound Dog Blues, Down With the Blues, Doin' Days and many others. The veteran guitarist and singer is in excellent form here.

The energy is also high when the band covers classics such as Born under a Bad Sign, Use Me, and Little Wing.

Throw in a couple of  wicked instrumental numbers and the CD becomes a wonderful showcase for what the band has to offer.

We're told there are a limited amount of copies so get yours soon at one of James' live shows.

Below is a video of one of the tracks from the CD.

James Anthony Band Release Canadian Jam Tracks

James Anthony and his band (Garth Vogan, Dave Russell, Mike Doyle and Ian McCallister) recorded Canadian Jam Tracks, Volume 1.
These backing tracks are a great way for novice and expert musicians to practice their skills on their own. They already have the rhythm, all you have to supply is the leads. Whether you want some boogie, slow blues, soul, funk, country or more - this has what you need!

This collection also doubles as an excellent instrumental album for the non-musician. It will get you moving and shaking.

You can download these great tracks on iTunes.

Check out the song sample below.

Remembering Kris St. Louis

Kris St. Louis was a local energetic, talented singer, songwriter and guitarist . In 1995, she released her first and only CD, Boss of Love. The disc featured amazing work from her as well as James Anthony and Carlos Del Junco.

In 1997, Kris also came out with the excellent cassette, 7 Days - Songs of Faith.

Unfortunately, she passed away in the late 1990's, leaving behind a short but wonderful legacy.

New James Anthony CD: On the Edge

Burlington bluesman, James Anthony gets all soulful on his latest CD, On the Edge. This great sound suits him extremely well.

With cool female background vocals, horn section, organ, and more, James and the gang infuse the disc with incredible flavours of blues, funk, jazz, rock and soul.

Highlights include the sweet ballad, Take Your Time With Her, the hard boogieing Hound Dog Blues (featuring Les Smith of Trickbag on harmonica) and three accomplished instrumentals.

The album is available at James' high-energy live shows and as a download/physical CD on CDbaby

Below is a live performance of Hound Dog Blues.
