New Jerry Johnson CD: Barber's Chair

Funk, Blues and Soul are the order of the day for Jerry Johnson's latest release Barber's Chair.  The local axeman is definitely a virtuoso on the guitar and his impressive skills are on display throughout the Hamilton Music Award nominated 5-track CD.

It starts and ends with fiery guitars from the title track and the closer, Mr. Blues.  In between there's the uptempo What Do I Think About Me Now, the beautiful In My Dreams featuring guest vocalist Darcy Feaver, and the emotional Life Before You.

Multi-instrumentalist Steve Negus of Saga fame also adds some amazing touches to this disc.

New Jerry Johnson CD: Right Now

The new year has gotten off to a rockin' start with the release of the new Jerry Johnson CD, Right Now.

The disc continues the Texas-style, psychedelic, hard rockin' sound from his previous CD, Show Some Action. Jerry has also reunited the same amazing team from that earlier album: Rob "Lord Bubba" Brown on bass and Teenage Head's Jack Pedler on drums.

The music is funky, groovy, and LOUD! It'll make ya boogie but it'll shake your house!

If your ears are up to the challenge (don't worry, there are a few quiet moments), the disc is available at his shows.

Band/Performer of the Week: Jerry Johnson

This is the first in a weekly series where we spotlight a talented band or solo artist that hasn't been mentioned much on this blog. We hope this helps you discover the great talent that exists in the area.

Our first choice is Burlington singer/guitarist Jerry Johnson. He does amazing, hard rockin', texas-style blues that makes you dance.
