New Steelworker's Waltz Fundraising CD is Pure Hamilton

The new compilation disc, Steelworker's Waltz, is as hardcore Hamilton as it comes. It has amazing Hamilton musicians singing songs about blue collar work on a CD in support of striking steelworkers. This album just bleeds steel.

There are 15 unreleased and/or recently recorded songs from the talented performers in our beloved steeltown. There's poetry, rap, folk, country, blues and much more in this collection - something for everyone!

The CD is available to purchase at Pick N Sticks, Dr. Disc, Cheapies and many other locations across Hamilton. You can also contact boxostudio@gmail.com to request a copy. All monies raised goes towards helping the Local Steelworkers 1005.

Here is the track listing

Performer of the Week: Crawlin' Kingsnakes

Legendary local roots rock group, The Crawlin' Kingsnakes, have been around since the mid 80s. The band released two classic studio CDs: Loaded 'N' Rollin and Go All Night.

Their music is good old fashioned hard rock & roll with a southern fried, roots base.

After playing and touring for almost a decade, the boys went their separate ways in 1995.

Luckily for Hamilton music fans, the band got back together in 2004 and recorded a live album: Rockin' the Casbah. The re-energized group now has a new bass player: Duke Foster and are currently recording a new disc entitled The Lost Years.

Hamilton Blues Legend Rita Chiarelli recently sent out a message to her fans. In it, she mentions her thoughts about 2008 and her plans for the future (including working on new album).

The full message from Rita:

Hello folks,

I’m writing to you from a hotel room in Vienna, Austria...every once in a while I like to share with you some great events...

First ..Let me say that 2008 was a “very good year”....2 nominations for ‘uptown goes downtown’ and another award for ‘cuore...the Italian sessions’..Some very cool gigs...2 tours of Europe....

2009 is looking even better....great festivals coming this summer, to some of these I’ll be bringing my seven piece band... I call it”the big blues band”...

3 nights with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony...

A return to Thunder Bay for a concert with the Thunder Bay symphony...
...
For all upcoming concerts please check out: www.ritachiarelli.com

And...hey, I have finally booked studio time to record a new all original album....more on this later....

But getting back to where I am sitting at the moment...in Vienna....in two days I will perform an acoustic blues concert behind “the historic walls of Mozart’s house”!! This is part of ‘spring time blues in Vienna’..

Now I figure there has got to be some great inspiration at Amadeus’ house...where he wrote many great operas...(’le nozze di Figaro’)...and where he died....

So there you have it...an update will come when I get back to Canada...oh, I’m having some footage taken...so if I don’t look too tired, bloated, homesick, weary, I‘ll have it posted...

‘til soon....Rita
